The design process consists of two dimensions - according to the classification of the Royal British Institute - RIBA into two dimensions, the first dimension is the intellectual dimension that aims to solve the design problem and formulate the architectural solution in the form of a shape or composition, while the second dimension is the production dimension, which represents the activities carried out by the designer until he produces the result of the design process in the form of a final integrated project, and with the emergence of the computer in the middle of the twentieth century and its impact on various areas of life, the computer began to influence the fields of architecture in general and the design process in particular, and many software and tools appeared that help the designer in doing his work, and these means, capabilities and software varied between what helps in improving and raising the efficiency of performance such as traditional drawing applications, and also from those means and tools what helps in the architectural solution process and making design and formative decisions, which BIM or modern drawing applications have greatly changed the concept of the traditional familiar architectural form and solution, and made it more free, fluid and complex than before, and of course the degree of understanding and benefit from all these capabilities in the design process between the Western and local architectural community varies, but what is the degree of disparity and what is the difference in the use of these capabilities And digital tools at the level of the design process dimensions between Western society and the local community?
 
 
تتكون العملية التصميمية من بعدين – بحسب تصنيف المعهد الملكي البريطاني – RIBA إلى بعدين، البعد الأول فيها هو البعد الفكري الذي يهدف إلى حل المشكلة التصميمية وصياغة الحل المعماري في صورة شكل أو تكوين، أما البعد الثاني فهو البعد الإنتاجي والذي يمثل الأنشطة التي يقوم بها المصمم حتى يقوم بإخراج نتيجة العملية التصميمية في صورة مشروع نهائي متكامل، ومع ظهور الحاسب الآلي في منتصف القرن العشرين وتأثيره على مختلف مجالات الحياة، بدأ الحاسب الآلي في التأثير على مجالات العمارة بشكل عام والعملية التصميمية بشكل خاص، وظهرت العديد من البرمجيات والأدوات التي CAD تساعد المصمم في القيام بعمله، وتنوعت تلك الوسائل والإمكانيات والبرمجيات ما بين ما يساعد في تحسين ورفع كفاءة الأداء كتطبيقات الرسم التقليدية وأيضا من تلك الوسائل والأدوات ما يساعد في عملية الحل المعماري واتخاذ القرارات التصميمية والتشكيلية، والتي غيرت ،BIM أو تطبيقات الرسم الحديثة بشكل كبير مفهوم الشكل والحل المعماري التقليدي المألوف، وجعلته أكثر حرية وانسيابية وتعقيدا من ذي قبل، وبالطبع فان درجة الاستيعاب والاستفادة من كل تلك الإمكانيات في العملية التصميمية بين المجتمع المعماري الغربي والمحلى متفاوتة، ولكن ما هي درجة التفاوت وما هو الفرق في الاستخدام لتلك الإمكانيات والأدوات الرقمية على مستوي بعدي العملية التصميمية بين المجتمع الغربي والمجتمع المحلي؟.
