Abstract

The present work represents an experimental study of the machinability of epoxy/TiN nanocomposites during turning. The effect of the cutting speed, feed rate, depth of cut and the cooling condition on the machining characteristics, typically, the surface roughness (Ra), the material removal rate (MRR) and roundness error (Er) of the machined epoxy/TiN nanocomposites specimens were investigated. The machining experiments were designed using Taguchi approach. The results revealed that the cooling condition showed no or slight influence on the MRR, Ra and Er of epoxy/TiN nanocomposites. The other machining parameters exhibited significant influences on the MRR, Ra and Er of epoxy/TiN nanocomposites.
